Kocho, Chapter 24: Abe Yasuna - Interesting scene from the kabuki play "Kwaikei Shinoda" of Ichimura Uzaemon XII as Abe Yasuna, waving his fan at two butterflies fluttering around his head. He wears court attire, including long blue pants that trail beneath his feet. A servant crouches behind his, frowning angrily as he scratches his head. The green collar of his kimono features an unusual image of guns with spiraling lines around them. The inset above shows a butterfly dancer. The title "kocho" means butterflies, making this an appropriate subject for this chapter. Nice expressive figures.

Artist - Kuniyoshi (1797 - 1861)

Image Size - 13 3/4" x 9" + margins as shown
