Yorikane in a Bat Kimono, 1847 - 1852

Comments - Handsome kabuki portrait of the nobleman Yorikane wearing an intriguing kimono patterned with colorful bats and bamboo against a black background. He peers over the top of his folding fan, looking to the side with a slightly concerned expression. He wears chunky wooden clogs, and has a cloth atop his head beneath his topknot. Draperies hang overhead, and the panel of the room behind him depicts undulating waves. An interesting design, nicely detailed.

Artist - Kuniyoshi (1797 - 1861)

Image Size - 14 1/2" x 9 5/8" + margins as shown

Condition - Good detail. Horizontal centerfold. A few creases and repairs at edges.
