Original Kuniyoshi (1797 - 1861) Japanese Woodblock Print
Purple of Edo, circa 1850

Comments - Lovely triptych showing Prince Genji and a pair of beauties in an interior. The young nobleman has just washed his hands in a black lacquer basin, and he smiles up at a beauty who offers him a towel. She wears a red kimono with waterwheels and flowing water, tied with a brocade obi. The woman at left is dressed in a white robe patterned with maples leaves. The room behind her opens onto a garden with a pond. A beautiful design with wonderful detail and attractive color. A great Kuniyoshi subject.

Artist - Kuniyoshi (1797 - 1861)

Image Size - 13 5/8" x 28 3/8"

Condition - Nice detail and good color. Backed with paper. Small repair.
