Iwai Kumesaburo as a Distraught Beauty

Comments - Handsome kabuki portrait of Iwai Kumesaburo as a beauty looking down with a somewhat distraught expression, holding a roll of tissues to her forehead with one hand and a pipe in the other hand. Her gray kimono features a floral print tied with an obi with alternating bands of irises and swirling water. A kettle and cup rest on the floor before her, and the folding screen behind her depicts a plum tree dotted with white blossoms. A nicely detailed design.

Artist - Kuniyasu (1794 - 1832)

Image Size - 14 3/8" x 9 5/8"

Condition - Nice detail. A few small repairs and creases.
