Morita Kan'ya XI as Shiratayu and Ichimura Uzaemon XII as Sakuramaru, 1847 - 1852

Comments - Handsome design from an untitled series of kabuki double portraits by Kunisada. Each image depicts the actors on vertical panels with strong wood grain, set against a solid-color background in tones of blue, gray, or tan. The expressive figures are beautifully detailed with fine line work in the hair. Some feature deluxe printing treatments such as embossing or burnishing. An interesting and unusual format from a rarely seen series.
