Series; Set of Famous Swords of the Theater (Gijo meito soroi)

Set of Famous Swords of the Theater - Handsome design from Kunisada's rarely seen series "Set of Famous Swords of the Theater," which features half-length portraits of kabuki actors. Each large, expressive figure is set against a background with the night sky above shaded to green below. Some designs include deluxe publishing techniques such as burnishing or embossing. A great series, beautifully detailed with fine linework in the hair and soft shading on the sky.

Condition - Good detail. Horizontal wrinkling throughout, slight curling.
