Genji in Autumn: The Wind in the Pines, 1854

Comments - Handsome triptych of Prince Genji arriving at an elegant mansion. He stands on a walkway at left, smiling as two women bow in greeting before him. At right, a beauty watches him, shyly holding her sleeve to her chin. Other guests are gathered around a low red lacquer table in the room at right, enjoying sake and refreshments. In the background at left, two men do religious penance under a rushing waterfall, one clasping his hands together in prayer. A young girl and a few men stand at the water's edge, enjoying the view of the garden. An attractive subject, detailed with embossing on some of the white collars.

Image Size - 14" x 28 3/8"

Condition - Good detail. Loss at corner, thin spot, repaired. Folds, wrinkling throughout.
