Comments - Interesting kabuki scene from the play "Tsuruha chitose suehiro Soga" at the Ichimura Theater, one of the many dramas about the famous Soga Brothers, of the young samurai confronting Suketsune, who murdered their father when they were young children. From left, the actors are Kawarazaki Gonjuro I as both (Soga) Goro Tokimune and Ebizako no Ju (inset), Bando Kamezo I as Kudo Suketsune and Onoe Kikugoro V as the beauty Omiya Kofuji (inset), and Bando Hikosaburo V as both (Soga) Juro Sukenari and Iyami Kingoro (inset). At left, Goro looks up at the nobleman with an unhappy frown as he leans on a tray. Suketsune stares back at him with an alarmed expression, while at right, Juro watches him closely. A handsome design with expressive figures.
