The Storehouse of Loyal Retainers, 1830s - Handsome design from Kunisada's circa 1830s series depicting the famous 47 ronin, "The Storehouse of Loyal Retainers" (Kanadehon Chushingura). Each print features expressive figures in nicely detailed setting, in an unusual vertical format rather than the landscape format typically seen with ronin series. Several designs include two scenes from the same act. A rare early series by Kunisada, and the first time we've featured many of these designs.
