A Fuji Arts Special Offer Auction
Prints from the Age of the Samurai - With this group of Edo era prints opening at incentivized low bids, take a moment to be transported back to the age when samurai ruled Japan. During the Tokugawa Shogunate, Japan enjoyed a period of relative peace and prosperity for more than 250 years. Woodblock prints captured scenes from daily life, warriors and battles, the beauties of the Yoshiwara pleasure district, kabuki, and travelers along the Tokaido and Kisokaido roads. Watch for Age of the Samurai prints each week at Fuji Arts.
Actor Applying Makeup - Terrific view of an actor applying makeup before a performance for a role as a beauty. She kneels next to a black lacquer mirror atop a wooden stand, peering at her reflection with a brush in hand. A basin nearby holds water, and a towel is draped across the stand next to a jar of makeup. Several props are piled up behind the figure, including a large hatchet and a pail decorated with splashing waves for gathering seawater. An intriguing behind-the-scenes look at the kabuki theater.
