Original Kunisada II (1823 - 1880) Japanese Woodblock Print
Courtesan and Kamuro, 1855

Comments - Charming portrait of a courtesan standing in a doorway, smiling as she rests one hand on the sliding panel. She wears a black kimono bordered with a geometric pattern over a red under robe, an obi that reverses from a floral print to a red tie-dyed design wrapped loosely around her waist. The young kamuro or child apprentice carries a blue and white ceramic teapot. An attractive design with a nicely detailed setting.

Artist - Kunisada II (1823 - 1880)

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 9 7/8" + margins as shown

Condition - Good detail. Loss at corner, small tear, repaired. Diagonal fold near bottom, wrinkling throughout.
