Comments - Interesting kabuki scene from the play "Kaidan Tsuki no Kasamori" (The Ghost Story of Kasamori in the Moonlight) at the Morita Theater in Edo. At left, samurai Imamura Tanzaburo draws his sword as he looks down with an angry frown, wearing a blue coat over a light blue kimono tucked into striped pants. At right, Kakure no Mohei scowls as he holds his umbrella defensively out before him. His boldly patterned purple and white kimono is tucked up at the back for easier movement, and his thinning hair is pulled back into a slender topknot. A stone marker stands next to the trunk of a large pine tree, with a stone wall beyond. Nice expressive figures in an interesting setting. From left, the actors are Nakamura Fukusuke I and Nakamura Shikan IV.
