Snowy City Scene, 1862

Series; Famous Places in the Eastern Capital in the Four Seasons

Snowy City Scene, 1862 - Interesting kabuki portrait of a man drinking sake by the light of a candle. He looks up with a worried expression as he takes a white cloth from his shoulder, a blue and white porcelain cup in his other hand. The fan-shaped inset features a lovely view of the city blanketed in snow by Hiroshige II. A nice expression figure set against a deep blue background, detailed with burnishing on the black kimono collars. We rarely see prints from this collaborative series.

Artist - Kunisada (1786 - 1864) and Hiroshige II (1826 - 1869)

Image Size - 14" x 9 3/4"

Condition - Nice detail. Stitching holes at side, a few wormholes, repaired.
