Samurai beside a River, 1862

Comments - Interesting kabuki portrait of a samurai standing along a river embankment, frowning angrily as he looks suspiciously to the side. He lifts one edge of his blue outer robe to reveal a brown checked kimono, tied with a striped obi, a fan in his hand. At upper right, willow branches frame a view of the opposite shore, where lumberyards are visible. A handsome design with soft shading on the water and sky.

Artist - Kuniaki (active circa 1844 - 1868)

Image Size - 14 3/8" x 9 7/8" + margins as shown

Condition - Good detail. A few repairs, light creasing.
