Series; Six Jewel Rivers in Various Provinces
The Noda Jewel River in Mutsu Province, circa 1835 - 1836 - Lovely view of a beauty and her traveling companions stopping on the banks of the Noda River in Mutsu, one of the famous Six Jewel Rivers of Japan. They pause to watch as a flock of plovers takes off from the water, the white birds fluttering high into the sky. The poem by No-in reads "When evening comes the wind blows salt in Mutsu, and the plovers of the river cry over the wide fields." An attractive and seldom seen design.
