Original Eizan (1787 - 1867) Japanese Woodblock Print
Karako of the Choji-ya

Comments - Beautiful portrait of the courtesan Karako of the Choji-ya, looking over her shoulder with a slight smile. She wears a kimono patterned with leaves and trimmed with a checked print over a red under robe, tied with a magnificent obi featuring a fierce dragon among swirling clouds. Her long hair falls loosely over her shoulders, adorned with two combs and many hairpins. A lovely design.

Image Size - 14 3/4" x 9 5/8"

Condition - Good detail. Loss at corner, a few small holes, repaired. Horizontal fold near top and at bottom, creasing at bottom.
