Beauty Reading a Letter Kakemono

Comments - Lovely Eizan design of a beauty reading a long letter, unrolling it with an eager expression, a cloth caught between her teeth. She wears a light gray kimono with an intricate cherry blossom pattern, trimmed with plaid fabric and tied with a black obi. Her hair is pulled sleekly back, held in place with a comb and a couple of floral hairpins. She leans back against a wooden pillar, a lantern hanging at upper left. The composition beautifully fits the kakemono or vertical diptych format. A classic Edo era beauty print.

Artist - Eizan (1787 - 1867)

Image Size - 26 1/8" x 9"

Condition - Good detail. Horizontal folds. Thinning and small losses at edges, a few wormholes, repaired. A few creases.
