Series; Lives of Loyal Heroes of Recent Times (Kinsei Giyu Gen)

Lives of Loyal Heroes of Recent Times - Handsome portrait from Yoshitsuya's series " Lives of Loyal Heroes of Recent Times" (Kinsei Giyu Den). An early student of Kuniyoshi, Yoshitsuya primarily created prints of warriors during his brief career. In this bold series, samurai are presented in dynamic poses, caught in action and realistically depicted in moments of courage and bravery. Most are set off by a simple white background, reminiscent of Kuniyoshi's 47 ronin series. Attractively colored, these lively designs are rarely seen in the market, and are a handsome choice for a collector interested in the samurai tradition.
