Otokodate in a Dragon Kimono

Comments - Handsome kabuki scene of two otokodate or street knights in the falling snow. The fellow at right eyes his companion suspiciously as he looks up, an umbrella over his shoulder. He wears a dark blue and red kimono with a striking pattern of a large dragon over the shoulder, while his companion's robe features a lion. Snow covered plum branches covered with pink and red buds and blossoms frames the scene above. An interesting design.

Artist - Chikanobu (1838 - 1912)
