Commoner at a Garden Gate, 1856

Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of a commoner pausing at a garden gate, frowning angrily as he looks ahead, a dotted cloth wrapped about his head. His plaid kimono is tucked up at the back for easier movement, worn over red loincloth and tied with a purple obi. At left, a stone lantern stands beside a brushwood fence beneath the night sky. An expressive figure.
