Nakamura Shikan IV as Kanawa Goro Imakuni, 1869 - Terrific kabuki portrait of Nakamura Shikan IV as the warrior Kanawa Goro Imakuni in the play commonly known as "Immoseyama." He grimaces with rage as he throws his hand out before him, staring straight ahead with an intense expression. He wears a red kimono patterned with circular dragon motifs over a suit of armor trimmed with fur cuffs. His bushy hair sticks out around his face, adding to his imposing appearance. A striking design.
