Departure Parade of Nitta Yoshisada's Troops before the Battle of Minatogawa, 1849 - 1852

Comments - Handsome scene of Nitta no Yoshisada and his troops preparing to set off to war against the Ashikaga in the Battle of Minatogawa. He stands on the verandah at right dressed in full armor and a horned helmet, gesturing with his battle fan. The beauty Koto no Naishi kneels at his side. At left, Wakiya Yoshisuke sits astride a brown horse, a cloak on a frame billowing out over his back, frowning as he looks back at Yoshisada. Other samurai are gathered nearby, with a warrior in the center gripping a tall club. A pine tree frames the view at right, and cloth panels with the Nitta clan crest wrap around the enclosure. A handsome design with expressive figures and wonderful detail in the armor.
