Ichikawa Kodanji as an Angry Pilgrim

Comments - Interesting kabuki portrait of Ichikawa Kodanji as a pilgrim, grimacing angrily at he looks to the side. He wears a white kimono patterned with writing, prayer beads draped over his shoulders to tie back his sleeves. Wooden pilings behind him may be part of a bridge or a dock. A bold design, nicely detailed with fine line work in the hair and soft shading on the water.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 13 3/4" x 9 3/4"

Condition - This print with good detail as shown. A few repairs, slight creasing, slight paper remnant at side. Please see photos for details.
