Iwai Kumesaburo as Koheiji's Wife Otsuka, 1859

Comments - Charming portrait of Iwai Kumesaburo as Koheiji's wife Otsuka in the play "Kohada no Kaii Ame no Furunuma," smiling and waving happily as she pauses for a break while traveling. She wears an intricately patterned blue tie-died kimono over a red under robe, tied with a violet obi. At right, a large hat rests atop a trunk tied with red cord. Large rocks and a pine tree provide an interesting setting. A nice expressive figure.

Image Size - 14 1/8" x 9 3/4"
