Original Eisen (1790 - 1848) Japanese Woodblock Print
Beauty with an Umbrella Kakemono, circa 1843 - 1845

Comments - Attractive Eisen kakemono or vertical diptych of a beauty strolling along, carrying an umbrella with one hand. She looks over her shoulder with a rather dismayed expression, her mouth slightly agape, a few loose wisps of hair framing her face. She wears a brown kimono with an interlocking geometric pattern, trimmed with a blue floral print and tied with a plaid obi featuring flowers in medallions. She totters along on tall black geta clogs, her red under robe visible as she walks. A classic Edo era beauty subject, beautifully composed to fit the vertical format.
