Rogue in a Dragon Vest

Comments - Terrific kabuki scene of a commoner grabbing the end of a banner held by the beauty at right, who carries a small wooden tub of laundry under her arm. In the center, a wild-haired rogue sneers angrily at the commoner as he draws his sword, wearing a black vest patterned with a dragon clutching a jewel over a suit of armor. The commoner glares back at him as he recoils, a straw mat on his back serving as a coat. From left, the actors are Nakamura Shikan, Onoe Kikugoro, and Bando Mitsugoro. A dramatic design with large expressive figures set off by a deep blue background, detailed with faint cloth embossing on the banner.
