Comments - Handsome scene of the Meiji Emperor and members of the court visiting Yasukuni Shrine. The group is gathered in front of a torii gate, with the Emperor in the center wearing a black military uniform and hat trim with feathers. The Empress stands at right, a lady-in-waiting holding an umbrella above her, while a young prince can be seen at lower left. At upper left, a fountain sprays water into the air, and blossoming cherry trees dot the grounds. Nicely detailed with burnishing on the black uniform and kimono, and embossing on the white kimono.
