Iwai Kumesaburo III as Osome and Iwai Hanshiro VI as Hisamatsu, 1855 - Handsome kabuki double portrait featuring the young couple Hisamatsu and Aburaya Osome, a pair of lovers from Osaka. Osome smiles as she looks back over her shoulder, her open lips showing tiny even white teeth. She wears a striped kimono tied with a red and green checked obi, her hair adorned with a red lacquer comb, floral ornaments, and ribbons. A cloud-like border separates the figure from a background of oversize blossoming irises and slender leaves, with a circular inset depicting Hisamatsu. He stares down with a worried expression, his eyes wide and his mouth agape. A large cloth bundle rests over his shoulder. The actors are Iwai Kumesaburo as Osome and Iwai Hanshiro VI as Hisamatsu. An attractive design with fine line work in the hair.
