Yada Gorozaemon Suketake, 1852 - Great depiction of Yada Gorozaemon Suketake, one of the famous 47 ronin, during the night attack on Moronao's palace. He grips his sword above his head with both hands, biting his lower lip in determination as an enemy thrusts a blade at him from lower left. He wears the ronin's trademark black and white dogtooth patterned robe over armor, his robe flying up above his head in the wind. Snow covered pine branches frame the scene. A rarely seen Kuniyoshi series and a great subject for a collector interested in this classic tale of honor and revenge.
