Comments - Fantastic scene of Toyotomi Hideyoshi's forces attacking a castle held by Sassa Narimasa during the siege of Toyama. A volley streaks down at the warriors from atop the fortress walls. At right a general on a dappled horse urges his troops forward, waving his tasseled command baton, wearing a horned helmet topped with a dragon, a quiver of arrows at his back. Several samurai use large iron clubs in an attempt to dislodge some of the stones at the base of the fortress wall, while at bottom right, a warrior ducks behind his wooden shield. A dramatic scene with expressive figures and wonderful detail in the armor and weapons.
