Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of a beauty gripping a sword with one hand as she pushes up her sleeve with the other, her kimono patterned with colorful leaves. She tilts her head with a strange smile, the loose wisps of hair framing her face giving her a slightly disheveled appearance. The commoner at right glares back at her with a tightlipped frown as he reaches for his own weapon. The fellow at left leans forward, ready to draw his sword if necessary, his kimono tucked up at the back for easier movement. The confrontation takes place at the entrance to a mansion with stone steps leading to a gate at right and a brushwood fence in the garden at left. A handsome design with a nicely detailed setting.
