Orange Blossoms of the Imperial Palace: Ichimura Uzaemon XIII as Eboshiori Motome, 1862 - Handsome kabuki portrait of Ichimura Uzaemon XIII as the samurai Eboshiori Motome looking over his shoulder with a worried expression, cradling a spool of red thread to his chest. Motome is looking for the evil daimyo Iruka, and one night he follows Princess Tachibana, whom he suspects is the sister of Iruka, by tying a red thread to her robe. The title panel at upper right takes the form of a book, surrounded by red and yellow chrysanthemums, and mandarin oranges, which also appear on the crests on Motome's shoulders and sleeves. Nicely detailed with soft shading on the background.
