Famous Places in Tokyo: Horse-drawn Streetcar at Kyobashi Road, 1877 - Great image of a horse-drawn street car making its way along Kyobashi Road in Tokyo. Passengers are visible through the window and a conductor stands in the front with a riding crop. The modern stone building at right features glass windows, and a rickshaw can be seen at left. A fine depiction of the rapid modernization taking place in Japan during the Meiji era.
