Original Kunichika (1835 - 1900) Japanese Woodblock Print
Onoe Kikugoro V and Ichikawa Danjuro IX

Comments - Interesting kabuki print featuring Onoe Kikugoro V as a woman looking sullenly over her shoulder and Ichikawa Danjuro IX as a samurai. He looks up with an angry scowl as he holds his sword up before him, his brows furrowed. He wears an olive green kimono tucked into striped pants over a white button front shirt, his hair cropped in the latest Meiji fashion. Nice expressive figures set off by a deep red background. Include burnishing on the black kimono collar and obi.
