Musashi: Otani Tomoemon V as a Courtesan, 1866

Comments - Interesting kabuki portrait of Otani Tomoemon V as a courtesan looking over her shoulder with a slightly alarmed expression, a roll of tissues in her hand. She wears a red print kimono bordered with a floral design over a red under robe, tied with a yellow obi that reverses to blue. Combs and many hairpins adorn her hair, which is arranged in two large loops. A scene above shows people inside a store with ledger books hanging on the walls. A simulated black lacquer frame borders the design. An interesting format.
