Wood for the Plum Tree - Charming scene of a beauty tying a message onto a plum tree covered with white blossoms and buds. She stands on tiptoe as she attached the paper to a branch, her companion watching her over her shoulder. Nicely detailed with embossing on the white kimono collars and a metallic pigment that has oxidized to a dark tone on the white coat at left. The first time we've seen this rarely seen subject.
