Iwai Kumesaburo III as Oyanagi and Kawarazaki Gonjuro I as Taga no Dairyo, 1860

Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of Tago no Dairyo tugging on the pink sash of the prostitute Oyanagi, looking at her with a sober expression as he stands on a cushion beside a screen. She tilts her head coyly, smiling as she watches him out of the corners of her eyes. Her black kimono features a burnished geometric pattern. The panels lining the back of the room depict birds flying above undulating waves. From left, the actors are Iwai Kumesaburo III and Kawarazaki Gonjuro I. Nice detail in the interior setting. Includes embossing on the beauty's white collar.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14 3/8" x 19 1/2" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with good color and detail as shown. Two separate panels. Vertical wrinkles at sides. A few small repairs, creasing. Please see photos for details.
