Rebuilding Kiyosu Castle by Yoshifuji (1828 - 1887)

Original Yoshifuji (1828 - 1887) Japanese Woodblock Print
Rebuilding Kiyosu Castle

Comments - Fantastic triptych showing the rebuilding of Kiyosu Castle in three days under the direction of Toyotomi Hideyoshi. Hideyoshi kneels before Lord Nobunaga, who gestures with his fan at the castle complex, which is covered with scaffolding. The daimyo is surrounded by squatting retainers carrying banners and lanterns on poles emblazoned with his mon or family crest. Dozens of men push carts of timber across the bridge to the castle, and a bonfire burns in the foreground, sending smoke wafting across the sky. An amazing wealth of detail in this panoramic image. A great depiction of this famous story.

Artist - Yoshifuji (1828 - 1887)

Image Size - 14" x 28 1/8"

Condition - This print with nice detail as shown. Three separate panels. Slight curling. Please see photos for details.
