The Six Immortal Poets, 1889 - Interesting kabuki print depicting Japan's famous Six Immortal Poets. Oddly, the fellow at top center raises his sword above his head as he glares angrily at the seated Ariwara no Narihira at lower left. At bottom center, the Heian era poetess and courtier Ono no Komachi, looks up from the book she is reading. From right, the actors are Ichikawa Danjuro, Onoe Kikugoro, Ichikawa Sadanji, Nakamura Fukusuke, and Ichikawa Gonjuro. Nicely detailed with embossing on both white kimono.

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels. Horizontal folds. A few small repairs and stains, creasing. Please see photos for details.
