Government Officials at a Glance, 1881 - Interesting group portrait of Meiji government officials. Most of the men wear elegant military uniforms, some with paulownia leaf patterns on the jackets, while a few are dressed in formal court robes and black caps, sporting a range of facial hair including beards and mustaches. Nice detail in the clothing and expressive faces. The first time we've seen this Chikanobu design.
