Evening Shower by Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Original Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864) Japanese Woodblock Print
Evening Shower

Comments - Handsome scene of a beauty during an evening storm, frightened by thunder and holding her hands over her ears as bolts of lightning flash across the room. She is huddled under the mosquito netting, wearing a white kimono patterned with blue circular motifs of boats, musical instruments, and other items over a red under robe, a tie-dyed obi loosely wrapped around her waist. A charming design, nicely detailed.

Image Size - 15 1/8" x 10 1/8"
