Comments - Fantastic Yoshitoshi triptych of Prince Genji watching abalone divers from the rocky shore at Chigogafuchi on the island of Enoshima. At left, a woman dives into the white capped waves just after a fellow diver, who disappears below the surf, only her foot visible above the water. Two beauties pause for a rest in the center, one offering a large abalone shell to the young nobleman, who smiles back at her. A beauty kneels at Genji's side, holding a black lacquer container. An incredible early and rare beauty triptych by Yoshitoshi, with a dynamic composition, attractive color, and fine detail. The Los Angeles County Museum of Art has this image in its collection.
