Street Knights in the Snow

Comments - Handsome kabuki scene of three otokodate or street knights standing along the edge of the river in winter. The young man at left has an alarmed expression on his face, while the fellow in the center, Chogoro, regards him with a worried frown, his eyes wide. The man at right looks up suspiciously out of the corners of his eyes at the herons flying through the sky above. A few boats can be seen on the water, and the buildings lining the shore are blanketed with snow. Nice large expressive figures against a handsome landscape setting.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - 13 3/4" x 29”

Condition - With excellent color and detail. Three separate panels. Some soiling. Some vertical creases and separation, repaired. Please see photos for details. Nice overall.
