Woodblocks Based on Earlier Designs - Interesting design from a series of woodblocks based on earlier paintings and drawings by masters such as Kano Eitoku, Hasegawa Tohaku, and Hokusai. Subjects range from portraits and objects to scenes from daily life and demons. Some prints are finely detailed while others resemble ink paintings with handsome calligraphic line work. An unusual group, published in Meiji 30 (1897).
