Iris Pond at Horikiri, 1859

Comments - Lovely scene of three beauties enjoying the iris garden at Horikiri. The women stroll along the edge of a pond, the woman in the center smiling over her shoulder at her companion a she adjusts a hairpin. The beauty at right wears an intricately patterned kimono over a blue and white tie-dyed under robe visible at her feet, the white area delicately embossing. Above the grassy slope at left, a pine tree frames the view. A beautiful, classic Edo era design, detailed with burnishing on the black kimono collars and obi.
