Fighting outside a Sake Display, 1862

Comments - Terrific kabuki scene of two commoners fighting in front of a display of straw mat wrapped barrels of sake. Leaning forward with a tight-lipped frown, the man at right raises a block of wood above his head, ready to use it as a weapon. His opponent thrusts a wooden pole at him, his loose hair tied back from his forehead with a light blue sash. The actor at left is Ichikawa Kuzo. A bold design with large figures and an interesting setting.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14 1/8" x 19 1/8"

Condition - This print with nice detail as shown. Two separate panels, backed with paper. Slight curling at sides. Please see photos for details.
