Comments - Charming aizuri-e print of a beauty riding an ox along the shore beneath an ancient pine tree. a basket over her back and a rake in her hand. The craggy roots of the tree rise above the sandy beach, and sailing ships can be seen in the distance, with smaller boats being rowed across the water. During the late 1820s, a blue pigment imported from Europe became available in Japan, leading to the development of aizuri-e, woodblocks printed entirely or primarily in blue. This print has a "kiwame" (approved) seal, which was in use from about 1804 to 1841. An attractive and rare aizuri-e design.
