The Enpo Era (1673 - 1681) - Terrific image of a reclining beauty from the Enpo Era, looking over her shoulder at a screen decorated with images from kabuki plays. Her hands are crossed demurely as they rest atop a dark blue cloth patterned with leaves, and her long hair flows loosely over her shoulders. She wears a boldly patterned red and black kimono with a design of pale purple blossoms and green leaves in the black areas, tied with a thick pink cord wrapped several times around her waist. Beautifully detailed with fine line work and burnishing on the hair, burnishing on the black areas of the kimono, and soft bokashi shading in the leaf border of the screen. A lovely design from this striking series of beauties from different historical eras.
