Ami Moyo Toro no Kikukiri, 1857

Comments - Lovely portrait of Onoe Kikugoro IV as the courtesan Tamagiku of the Nakamanjiya in the kabuki play "Ami Moyo Toro no Kikukiri." She grins happily as she looks over her shoulder, wearing an outer robe shaded from white to gray and bordered with autumn grasses and blossoms over a red tie-dyed kimono and red under robe, tied with a blue print obi that reverses to a solid color. Her hair is pulled back into two large loops, adorned with hairpins and combs. An ornate lantern at upper right swings in the evening breeze. A beautiful design, detailed with a light embossed patter on the top of the outer robe and the white collars. The first time we've seen this attractive design.
