Bando Hikosaburo IV as Nanakusa Shiro, 1852

Comments - Great kabuki portrait of Bando Hikosaburo as Nanakusa Shiro, traveling through the forest at night. He pauses to lift his hat above his head, frowning angrily, a walking stick in his other hand. He wears a straw raincoat over a plaid kimono and blue undergarment, a blue and white print cloth wrapped about his head. Dense foliage fills the foreground, with a pine tree framing the night sky above. A handsome design with a striking natural setting.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 9 3/4"

Condition - This print with nice detail as shown. Backed with paper. Small repair, a few creases at edges. Please see photos for details.
